Hesperia, San Bernardino County
The Mojave River begins in the mountains just south of Hesperia and flows north past the city, mostly underground. Silverwood Lake, a state recreation area a few miles up the canyon, draws boaters and swimmers in summer. The Pacific Crest Trail passes along the southern edge of town on its route between the San Bernardino Mountains and the Cajon Pass.
